If you are like me, and if you are looking for someone special to help you with the training and/or showing of your dog, you know how hard it is to find just the right person. Our dogs are such an integral part of our lives, and they are so much more than "just animals". They make our lives complete, and we want a dog professional who will provide the same high standard of service that we have already established for our pets. I understand your concerns because my life has always been about animals, and for more than twenty years it has completely gone to the dogs!What started as a hobby that I loved quickly turned into my life's passion. Over the years I have had the pure joy of training, grooming, and exhibitinga multitude of memorable show dogs with more than a few finishing their careers in the top rankings of U.S. competition. I became a charter member of the American Kennel Club's Registered Handler Program, and as a direct result of my decision to live a life in dogs I have had the exciting opportunity to show dogs in countries all over the world including Japan, Mexico, and Rotterdam. While my specialty has always been Cocker Spaniels, I have had the pleasure of showing several other breeds along the way.
In addition to being a handler, I have also enjoyed several Cocker Spaniel judging assignments.In the past I have judged dogs in the US, Finland and Sweden. I was honored to have been invited to judge the American Spaniel Club National Futurity in Oklahoma in July, 2007. My love of dogs extends into the whelping box as well, and I have bred several generations of AKC Cocker Spaniels under the prefix TLC.Some of our pups have become show dogs in the conformation, obedience, or agility rings, but more than anything they have been great companion and family dogs.My goal with each and every litter is to produce healthy Cocker Spaniels with great temperaments and true breed type. Today as a Professional Certified Pet Dog Trainer and member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, I am, as always, continuing my education on canine behavior.It is so exciting for me to see the tremendous advances that have been made in basic dog training philosophies and techniques since I exhibited my first obedience cocker, "Goldie", so many years ago! The emphasis with the educated trainers of today is no longer on using corrections and punishment to deter a dog's bad behavior, but rather to teach and reward dogs for good behavior. The benefits of positive reinforcement training are life-changing for both our dogs' behavior and for strengthening our bond with them. Having used these techniques in my years of dog training for the show ring, I know the power that they hold. Thank you so much for considering my services. I am continually grateful to be able to work at what I love, and I appreciate the lasting friendships that have developed with people as a resultPlease enjoy these photos...some are dogs from the past... some are new friends.
